Prayer Request

As you know, Jerry Truesdale has been sick and in/out of the hospital. This past week he was admitted to Baptist Hospital in Columbia were they did more test. They have found out the he has a form of Leukemia. What I have been told, is the kind of Leukemia that he has is very treatable. In other words this would be the kind of Leukemia to have. So my request to all of us is please keep him, Crystal, and their family in your prayers. This is a way we can all help them. And I know that they believe in the power of prayer. And I have seen miracles happen with prayer.

So as we all celebrate the incoming new year, lets take time to be thankful for all we are blessed with and to remember our extended family as they go thru this trial, that they are not alone we are here for them.

To Jerry, Crystal, Britney, and Jermey, we love you, and we are here for you.

Sick Hi Stepper

Jerry Truesdale is back in the Camden hospital, room 316. The doctors are concerned about his blood platelets. His platelets are not increasing like they should. He will be in hospital thru the weekend until he can see a specialist which should be Monday. Please keep him and Crystal in your thoughts and prayers. Also, just as a precaution, the nurses do not want him to have any vistors that might have a cold or has been sick. The reason being that with his platelets being low, his imune system is also low. I will be posting updates as soon as I hear anything new.

SC State convention

Just a reminder, the SC State Square and Round Dance Convention will be Jan. 28th and 29th at Springmaid Beach, SC. If you would like to purchase tickets in advance see Jack and Betty Ramsey on Thursday night. They have tickets to sell. Also, you can make your reservations at the Springmaid Beach resort. To receive the special rate of $61.00 a night you must make your reservations by Dec 20, 2010.

Update

Just to let everyone know, Jerry came home from the hospital late Sunday afternoon. He is improving and doing better, still has a little way to go.

Christmas dance

This is just a reminder that our Christmas dance will be December 16. We look forward to dancing with everyone on this special day.

Sick Hi-steppers

For all of our members who did not know, Jerry Truesdale was admitted to the hospital Friday afternoon. Darrell and myself went to visit him, he appears to be doing good. If he keeps on improving he might get to go home Sunday. I know him and Crystal would appreaciate everyone keeping them in your prayers

By the way he is in the hospital in Camden, room 318.

Also Darlene has been down with pink eye. So lets also remember her and Kenneth in our prayers for a speedy recovery.

New grand baby

Congradulations to Kenneth and Darlene on their new grand baby. This is wonderful news, we wish you all the best to baby her family.

Winners of Gift Certificate

As some of you know we gave a gift certificate as a door prize to the Camden First Church of the Nazare"Fellowship of Friends" Senior group. The gift certificate was for free dance lessons. The gift certificate was won by the Pastor and his wife. We look forward in having them in our classes that start Thur. night.

Get Well Al

For those of you that have not heard, Al Tarver Was hospitalized Wed. night Sept. 29th. He had 2 blockages, and they put in 2 stints. He was discharged from the hospital Oct. 1st. Please lets keep them in our prayers. Get well Al, the Hi-Steppers are thinking about you and Amber.

Governor Mark Sanford Signs Proclamation

On September 23rd Gov. Mark Sandford signed a proclamation proclaiming September as Square dance month in South Carolina. At the signing were Camden Hi-steppers, Richard & Barbara Walker, and Darrell & Sylvia Sealey. After the signing we had square dancing outside in front of the state house. Ron Rutz called and we had several members from the Hi-Steppers as well as 2 or 3 other clubs were represented.

October 30th Federation Dance

The last Federation dance for 2010 will be held in North Charleston, Sc. Thanks to Barbara Walker for her hard work in getting us a discount rate at the Radisson hotel. The room charge with breakfast is $83.00 or without breakfast $73.00 plus tax. There normal room charge is $112.00 plus tax. The Radisson is less than ten minutes from Park Circle.

If interested in staying at the Radission the phone number is 843-744-2501. Be sure and ask for the Square Dance Special or ask for 1010 Square.

Thanks again Barbara for getting the discount for us. I'm all about saving money.

Raleigh

Well we had a great time in Raleigh. At the NC State Convention. It's always fun dancing with your friends old & new. And you meet someone new all the time. There were 17 dancers from SC there. Everyone had a safe trip there and back. We look forward to next year.

Raleigh

There will be some Hi-Steppers traveling to Raleigh, NC this weekend for the NC state convention. Please keep them in your prayers that they will have a safe weekend. Not just the ones traveling to Raleigh, NC but everyone who may be traveling.

National Convention in South Carolina

Good news for South Carolina. Looks like in 2017 we might get the chance to host the National Square Dance convention. The location will be in Greenville, SC. This is a good thing for our state. It will also be a first for our state. What a great way to show that "southern hospitality"!!

Federation Dance

It was good to see all the Hi-Steppers that attended the Federation dance in July up in Seneca, SC. It makes me proud to be a part of such a great square dance family. Our next and last Federation dance for this year will be October 30th in North Charleston, SC. Please make plans to attend.

Then we start all over again in January 2011 at the SC State Convention. Springmaid Beach, SC. You can go ahead and make your reservations at the Springmaid Beach resort.

2010 Gatlinburg, TN Spring Fling

As you all know this past weekend was the annual Spring Fling held in Gatlinburg, TN every year. Here is a video of some of the Camden Hi-Steppers that attended. We had a great time as always, and had 7 couples from Camden attending. You can be proud, Camden Hi-Steppers had a very good showing. This will be held again in 2011 the first weekend in May. Make plans to attend.

Visiting/Banner Stealing

As our anniversary dance draws nearer, we need banners. Please check with the list that Crystal has at the front table and see where you can go dance and get a banner. We need these banners for our upcoming dance. If you don't see the list, check the Carolina Caller. They have the different clubs and there dance times.

If you notice the banner steeling is going well. Join someone in the club and go get those banners.

The Smiling Swingers anniversay dance

Who had a good time at the Smiling Swingers 34th anniversary dance? Answer: Everyone who attended. What a great time we had, and what a turn out from the Hi-Steppers, that's the way we roll, we try to support our neighboring clubs, and that's what we did Sat. night. Not only Sat. night did the Hi-Steppers make visit, we also made a big splash Friday night at the Jolly St. Ball. Rain didn't keep the Hi-Steppers away. We had a great weekend, and miss those who couldn't join us.

New Classes

Okay, we have new members which is exciting in its self. We will be offering new classes starting in October 2010. So lets keep the momentum going! Now is the time to be talking and sharing get the people excited. If you know someone who would like to learn square dancing or you think would like to learn, please let them know. We need to keep our squares circling left and do-si-doeing, we want and need new members. Lets get excited people!

Graduation

Well the day finally arrived. We held our graduation for our students, (who by the way are now fellow members of Camden Hi-Steppers). So I would like to take this time to welcome our newest members: Douglas & Linda Horton and Kenneth & Darlene Padgett, we're so glad your a part of our club. We look forward to dancing many dances with you, and also look forward to you being part of our club.

Missing Hi Steppers

Has anyone seen our missing Hi Steppers, If you see any of our members that haven't been in awhile, please let them know we miss them, and will be happy to see the back dancing with us.

Anniversary Dance

Time is approaching quickly and it will soon be time for our anniversary dance. Date of the dance is May 22,2010. There is work to be done, and clubs to visit to collect banners.

The Wearing of the Green dance

It will soon be time to celebrate St. Patricks day. Our St. Patricks dance will be held on March 18, 2010, with the wearing of the green dance. Pull out the all the green and lets have a great time.

Graduation

Time is here for our students to graduate. We need everyone to come out and show the students support. After all it is a BIG day for them. Please mark the date on your calander, March 11, 2010, see you there.

SC Round & Square Dance Convention

Well another year has come and gone. We had a blast at the State Convention held at Springmaid Beach. Fellowship with your friends is always a blessing and alot of fun. Richard & Barbara Walker our new Chairman of the Federation, congradulations to them and I know they have our total support in the work that's ahead of them. I was proud of the Camden Hi-Steppers having 2 squares in attendance. I would like to encourage every one to make plans to attend the next federation

dance that will be held in May.
