Jerry

As most of you know by now we lost a beloved member of the Camden HiStepper family, Jerry Truesdell passed away this morning around 2:00 AM.

For all those of us who knew and loved him will remember him for his love of life, love of his family, Crystal, Brittany, and Jeremy.   He also loved his square dance family and loved to square dance. He always had a smile on his face and of course as Bubba the clown.

Jerry you  will be missed by all as you are in Heaven circling left and smiling down on us. To Crystal, Brittany, and Jeremy you have all our love and support.

Camden Hi-steppers changes

The Camden Hi-steppers voted and passed on the following changes to the club:

Starting in January, 2012 the time on Thursday nights will be 7:30 to 9:30 instead of the 8:00 to 10:00. Also the club voted to change the refreshment schedule, from having 4 names on a night to bring refreshments to 3 names. Those 3 can decide on how much and what they want to bring for their night.

Thanks Pat Gorman for changing the name list for us, we hope to have this posted and copies passed out at the club this month.

2011 Christmas Parade Float

December 10, 2011 the Camden Hi-Steppers had a float in the Camden Christmas parade and the Lights of Lugoff Christmas parade. Here are a few of the pictures of our float. Thank you Ken and Darlene for the little house on the hill, and to all the Hi-Steppers who gave their time and talant to make this a success. We received such a warm welcome by all the parade viewers and for those of you who missed the parade you missed out on the entertainment before the parade provided by Bonnie and Sylvia. The next schedule parade is Boykin, Sunday December 17th. If you are able to help and attend please do so. With a little touch up, the Camden Hi-Steppers Country Square dance float will be ready to ride again.

Plus Workshop

I am working on putting together a Plus Workshop for a Sat. If this interest you please let me know. I am thinking, we work on Plus calls for a couple of hours and then work on some couple dance's, then we have a dance that Sat. night to show off our new moves. So basicly this would be a all day affair. Let me know if interested.

SUCCESS

The benefit dance held May 29Th at the Barn was a great success. We raise and sent to the American Red Cross $1520.00. This will go toward the aid of the tornado victims. Way to go square dancers.

Federation Dance

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, AND THANK YOU!!!! To all my Hi stepper family. We did it!!

Well, after months of planning, hair pulling, and even overcoming those Hi-steppers who where against it, we pulled it off. The Federation dance was a success. I am very proud of the Hi-Steppers who came together and worked together to make it a success. It took all of us, the ones who help with the set up and take down, the kitchen organization with all the food, the ones who helped Pat with the sign in table, the fifty/fifty table, and the club members who showed up to give their moral support. I couldn't have done it with out you.

The one thing I can't understand is the members who fought so hard to make it fail. The club voted to host the federation dance, and they voted to hold it in Camden, these votes were taken and passed. The majority of the Hi-Steppers wanted to have host and hold the dance in our home place. But instead of spending the energy to help make it a great dance that it was there was nit picking and doing anything to tear it down.

The phone calls that I have received from people in other clubs that I didn't know, the calling of John Early, who keeps up the SC Square dance page, to add the extra lines at the bottom of our federation flyer, even a couple of square dancers from the Greenville area who came to me yesterday at the dance telling me of what some Hi-Stepper who stop them in the yard to complain how they didn't want the dance held in Camden, and who were against it being held at the American Legion building. To those Hi-Steppers who tried to make us fail, it didn't work. And it saddens me to think one of own would do this.

To everyone else, again Thank You. See everyone Thursday night.

Tom and Jo Medlin

It is with sadness that 2 of our Hi-Steppers are leaving us. Tom & Jo Medlin have asked for a leave of absense from the Hi-Steppers. We will miss them and look forward to having them visit with us from time to time. We wish them nothing but the best.

Federation Dance

It's here. The SC Square & Round Federation Dance. Here in historic Camden. We need all our Hi-Steppers to come out and have a grand time. The American Legion building on Chestnut Ferry St. The grand march will start at 7:15 pm.

See you there,

Yellow Rocks,
Sylvia

Mr. Marvin Davis

It is with a sad heart that I post the loss of one of our Histeppers, Mr. Marvin Davis. We will surely fill the loss of our friend. Even though I only knew him for a short while, he was a great inspiration to me. Lets please keep his family and each other in our prayers. The family will be receiving friends at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden from 6 to 7:30 tonight. Services will be held Thursday afternoon at 3:00 at the First Baptist Church, Broad St, Camden.

I think the HiSteppers have been asked to attend in there square dance attire.

Hot off the press, Richard and Barbara Walker, fellow Hi-Steppers, are our newly elected Hall of Fame members. They were given there medals and their picture will put up at the barn in the Hall of Fame area. We are proud of them, and thankful for all they do for square dancing and the federation.

Congrats and yellow rocks to them.
